Swingamajig 2018 – Truly a show like no other!
Swingamajig festival returns to Birmingham on May 5th 2018.
Take a stroll under the railway arches of Digbeth and find yourself in an immersive wonderland of vintage sights and sounds where you can dance the day and night away in the company of 4,000 of the best-dressed revelers imaginable.
Swingamajig began life as Shambala festival’s much loved Speakeasy venue, before evolving into an event all of it’s own, and where better to host it than in the atmospheric depths of the second city? This is a chance to party hard against a stunning backdrop that harks back to Birmingham’s industrial past. Expect visual installations, provocative street art and stage sets that turn these historical factory buildings into a show like no other.
Lose yourself and your inhibitions in a multi-venue maze and stumble across a host of delights, from seven stages, to hidden speakeasies, and a show-stopping bazaar where you can pick up vintage treasures or pamper yourself in a traditional salon!
Think it’s all about that swing? Think again! Swingamajig’s diverse musical line up reflects the cultural melting pot of the city itself, from gypsy jazz to Balkan beats, jungle DJs to tropical rhythms and of course a healthy dose of traditional and electro swing. Regardless of genre, all the acts you’ll see at Swingamajig are phenomenal live and utterly danceable.
Stellar line up aside, what makes Swingamajig truly a show like no other are the extra elements, from world class cabaret and burlesque to internationally recognized dance acts.
Take part in one of our famous dance workshops before grabbing a bite of delicious, sustainable street food. Browse the bazaar and check out the incredible working steam engines before grabbing yourself a cocktail on the roof terrace (no prohibition here!)
Now in it’s sixth year, Swingamajig attracts an incredible crowd of devoted party-goers who span the generations, dress to kill and create an inclusive atmosphere that has to be experienced to be believed, where almost anything goes!
